Comments and thoughts please.

Was going to spend arround £5/600 on one.  But thinking about it it may not get that much use.

Needs to have a decent optical zoom for bird/wildlife and basically usefull and compact to chuck in the car  to go to country side, plane/train spotting if see something usefull and a good zoom for the like of santa pod 1/4 mile if I ever get there.

Dont understand all the technology as such so just thought I would throw it open for chat.

Not sure how good speed wise a memorty card will be, suppose that varies on length of time  of each video recording.

If I end up using it quite alot I dont might investing in something bigger/batter/faster at a later date.  But this is quite compact and therefore easy to store.

TIA.   :y

I bought a Sony HD155 for Xmas. Its a bit more pricey than the one you linked to (£400 on Amazon) but it has a 120Gb in-built hard drive, more than enough even for the most avid video'er.

Picture quality is amazing even when linked to a 40" HD TV. Battery life (from the standard OEM battery) can be an issue with these tiny cams though as you always view through the main video screen (no viewfinder).

They're certainly a hell of a lot better than the hoist on shoulder jobby I first bought back in 1986 when our first sprog came along. That took a full size VHS cassette and weighed a hefty 20 lbs.

I got the JVC Hm330 HD  last year, taking it to California on my hols.

Fantastic buy but not as much a bargain as the one you listed.

The difference between standard and HD recordings are staggering.

For me one of the big plus's with the Everio's is the size. Small enough to store in a hip case, quick for removal and storage.

You WILL need to pay out quite a bit for a spare battery though but all in all I love it...

However !   HD recordings need a lot of storage space and although mine had 8gb on board it's no where near enough for holiday use and extra memory cards were needed.

Odds are, IF I was buying another one I think I'd buy one with a ton of memory already on board, 120gb minimum I would say.

It's not a huge problem, 32GB of memory cards were enough for 3 weeks to East Coast USA but 120GB would cover a lot longer time of course.

That said, once you have the film on a memory card, it's yours in it's original form for as long as you need it.
