Just for the Royal Wedding, though.. shame, if I was going to have a street party I'd want it to be for a good reason ;D

So, will you all be organising street parties?

considering how busy my road gets, no! Don't understand all the fuss, luckily I am not at work during the build up or during it, as it will be mental here!

;D

And in my case the road is populated by a bloke on the dole and his layabout, pregnant girlfriend-toting kids, a pikey, a miserable b*stard (not me!) and a nice couple..

So I don't think I'll be inviting them all 'round ;D

If one was organized and placed on the road I live off there would be not only some people but also a lot of cattle, sheep and rooks in attendance.

That is if one could place any obstruction on a road (and hope to survive the experience) used by MILF's, complete with ugly sprogs and gob-shites in 'desirable cars' as they use it to blast from village to village in the hope of saving a few seconds on their journey to wherever they deem important.

All the while of course looking out for maniac farmers in impossibly large machines towing vessels of steaming keek at, what appears to me, an alarmingly indecent rate of knots before they swing off into a field in a fashion that would not shame a rally driver.

A lady in work with me has organised a street party, they had to pay the council to produce roads signs diverting traffic and insurance (about £120 I think) and they're having an enourmous bouncy castle in the middle of the street for the day. I'll be working that day, doesn't hold any interest for me at all

Street parties , what a great idea. Of course only the Royalists should have the day off . All the moaning minnies, anti Royals and so on should be made to work the day (and donate their wages to helping out those having parties)

Where we live the village has a 3 day fiesta with bouncy castle, games, prizes, free band and loud disco till six a.m.,lots of free food (though each house has to make a contribution of around 25 euros). They just close the road and put hundreds of chairs, tables and a barbeque in the road! Anyone wanting to get through has to take their chances driving through the olive groves or do a ten mile detour. No insurance, no road signage etc just old fashioned common sense.  :y

There is one in our road, being organised by the people at the end.  I think its a great idea, as it brings people together - though our road has a great sense of community anyway.

Not sure they are applying to the money grabbing basturds at the council though  :-X

So it's not going to degenerate into Curry and St.Ella and end really messily, then? Doesn't sound worth the bother to me.  ::)
