i dont wish to sound all clarkson but i'd rather  have the standard one (the vogue?  :-/)

the sport is far too cheshire lol  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Vogue is a spec, like Elite.

Range Rover - The Full Monty
Range Rover Sport - Half Pint Job

mistaken there i think you'll find.

they are very much different vehicles, diff size, body shape, chassis and of course spec.

And price....

Thats what i said, half pint job!

Range Rover is original. the daddy, it will go anyware. The Sport is the smaller version

sorry,

i read that as you were saying "sport" was like "vogue"....as in they were just different specs....
I think the big Real rangerover is actually now refered to as the "range rover vogue" to distinguish it from the sport. But there is a special edition called the autobiography.

anyway.....
RR sport is TINY inside, well for someone my height. It was "compact"....which was surprising. but then the New defender is the same too, because of the bulkhead the seats dont go back far enough lol

No worries  :y

Autobiography is again spec, like Vogue & HSE, the official name still is Range Rover (Brucie?)

I too was surprised at the 'snug' cockpit of the Sport, I felt the Omega had more room!  :o

Think its perception, the windscreen in Omega is rather massive, its felt small in the Sport  :-/

Boot space was a bit poor too  :(

They are faily rapid though, but for that kinda money I would have an XF-R

Not wanting to sound a pedant but...

Wheres the 'New' Defender?   ;D

Its got a stay of execution until, I think, 2014.  Still based on the original wartime chassis etc.

If its a 90 pickup then, yes, its got no rearward seat movement to speak of.  If a County or 110 then there is at least some adjustment.  I find it best to actually move the seat forward then tip the back backwards....   :y

yeah i was disappointed at the space, especially when you compare it to the chassis its based on. I found the Disco 3 not too bad.
they've shortened it, lowered the back end roof line to make all space useless.....but then i suppose you're not buying one of those for practicality lol

You're quite right, they've not changed.

It was a 90 hard top, but it had a half bulkhead behind the front seats

Autobiographies are fine cars.  Spirited, good response, and as quick to stop you from a ton as they are to get you there in the first place.

Remember to prime the suspension into the corners though.  Still the same saggy but predictable handling.

Sports are, I feel, the young pretenders and very much the chav factor and I forsee prices will plumet in comparison to the RR.  Especially when the Evoque comes on, in September.   ;)

Like the Ford Crown Victoria, its going to be one of those cars governments/law enforcement/Army won't want to loose!

Defender.

No side impact bars.
No airbags.
No immobiliser.
No seatbelt pretensioners.
Remote alarm blipper on doors almost across the range.  But not quite.  Still needs key or Mk1 arm to lock.
Windy windows.

2 things you can see on earth from the surface of the moon.

The Great wall of China and....

.... doorgaps on a Defender.

Basic, well, yes...

Would I buy one?

Yup.  ;)

We had one in a few weeks ago.  The owner had tweeked it with about 35K of extras including gearbox, transfer box etc mods.  It was quick for a brick on wheels. And stopped quite well too.

Cruised at 90 on the motorway in 5th with a gear to go, and the revs were relatively low.  Got there sharp as a knife when prodded as well.  8-)

The Tomb Raider version was a pickup with external roll cage and all the leccy toys you could ask for, as I recall.  Heated seats/front screen etc as well as windows.  The rear bed housed a pull out drawer, or perhaps that was the 60th anniversary model?   :-/

Fixed.

Just searched AT for them actually, as mother T was a bit stuck in snow last year unable to go anywhere. Considering a 4x4, thought I could pick one up for 3 figures, but damn, they hold their value well!  :o

can you expand on this cos as i recall the land rovers wheelbase has changed 5 times in 50 years
andif you want the definitive range rover it would have to be a 1988 soft dash range rover classic overfinch 570T

definitive land rover would have to be the s3v8 stage 1
