what do you all think for months we being the neighbours and i have been giving the council hell about the pot holes in the road,
Is it just my thinking but last friday our bin man tripped on one and hurt his ankle.Next thing blue light ambulance appears and carts him off,
well low and behold the highways dept arrives today and mends the pot holes,

It used to be the case, that the council could not be sued for such "negligence" unless it could be proved that they knew the problem pre existed prior to any incident.

So I guess as you have reported the problem(?), they must have known of the issue, and are know fearful of a law suit. Bit bloody late mind...

Ias chris said I think they get a time limit from when someone reports it before they can be sued for neglecting if some is injured because of it. So if it is 8 weeks for example the might be trying to hurry up and sneak it in before the deadline now. Probably too little to late though.

Sadly, our roads were not designed for such sub zero temperatures, our roads were designed for drainage as most often than not its just wet and a bit cold, not sub zero.

Roads in the colder parts of Europe can cope better with it, but the spray they create during wet weather is very bad.

What with budget cuts and feked roads, councils are between a rock and a hard place (excuse the pun!)

They need to cut all the middle management crap they have

yeh id let him know.they mite get there finger out then and sort the holes out.the roads round eastbourne are bad and most of the holes have been the same for over a year.there not interested in sorting them out.the back lanes are in better nick than the so called main roads.but thats what you come to expect in this country now.its gone to the dogs

I couldn't agree more I work for a council as a chargehand and ive got 6 gaffers above me (and 3 directors).
For every man/woman on the shop floor theres 1 person in a office.Councils are way to top heavy

The problem is the roads are patched up, rather than repaired.  The repairs don't meet the required standards of 7 different aggregates either.

Sadly, due to the increase in traffic, the surface needs replacement more often than, say, 20 years ago, but this doesn't happen
