Omega 3.0 LPG conversion
« on: 16 April 2011, 16:13:33 »

Hello all. I'm thinking of buying a year 2000 80,000 mile 3.0 elite auto and converting it to LPG. Has anyone else done this? If so is it viable and what's the performance/economy like?

If you can wield a spanner and want to DIY it then it's very viable, should save enough in running costs within 8k miles or so :y

Economy wise, I reckon on just over 15p per mile to run instead of the 26p per mile or so on petrol. Better economy on a run than around town (obviously) ;)

But, if you mainly do short journeys then it's probably not as viable for you :y

Hope that helps :y

before rushing for conversion, use the car in petrol for some time, see its condition and problems..solve them.. convert after..

I've got a 3ltr Estate LPG'd. 50ltr tank gives me a range of around 200miles. At 73.9p per litre its not bad. I personally find it's excellent for me round town too!
