Has anyone noticed that there seems to be alot more dirt and grime in rainwater? I mean, it can drizzle very lightly, and cars are left covered in spots of horrible browny sand type stuff that lingers, then if you don't wash it off it goes greasy. It seems to be alot worse now than before. I wash it quite regularly though. It looks terrible on the Elite (nocturno blue), but not too bad on the MV6 (champagne).

I suspect there's a bit of scaremongering going on there in that article, but there is a ton of pollen around - even more this year than last year.. my cars both turn a lovely shade of yellow (in the case of the green Omega) and green (in the case of the blue MR2) in a matter of days.

I didn't think of pollen until you said, but now that you have said, it does seem powdery in that way

Down here it is definitely pollen - a bloody nuisance. If I clean the car myself I end up with a streaky mess - take to the Polish guys and they do a fantastic job for £6 - pollen or no pollen. Secret seems to be getting the hard water off immediately - there is usually 2 maybe 3 working on each car at a time.

I thought these sites were Heritage sites and were tourist attractions. I wasn't aware they were working mines. I am quite happy to be proved incorrect

As the weather we are getting is coming from the south it is probably sand particles as well as a mix of pollen and dirt where it is dry

When I was doing missionary work in the Northumberland area 20 years ago  there was a heritage working at Allenheads - just googled it and it seems it has been closed down - I remember sponsoring a rivet for the water wheel rebuild or something - must root out the home video.
