Maybe it's a case of smoke without fire ( ), but with Greece looking ever more likely by the day to default on its debts, could this be the first domino to fall?

Indeed, Den, it may be a story without substance but, what is interesting, is the fact that it is not being laughed out of court. A few years ago a country leaving the Eurozone would have been unthinkable, but now the prospect, albeit strenuously denied, is given some legitimacy by the seriousness attached to both rumour and denial. In other words, it could happen.

As you suggest, the first domino? I imagine that the European Bank will be heavily encouraged to make financial intervention to prevent this.......

Aah but there's nothing like a bit of cowardice, avarice and greed to keen the senses sufficiently to spot potential problems on the horizon.

Markets, and how they're driven by this desire to accumulate wealth, impinge on every aspect of our everyday lives from the cost of the fuel we use to the price of a chocolate bar, so it would be inadvisable to ignore these rumours.

That said, there's little that realistically can be done should we wish action taken to deal with it as, not only have we (the ordinary Joe) been done up like kippers in relation to the effects of those individuals manipulating the markets for their own gain, but also by those In the EU who continually believe that such problems can be dealt with by the liberal application of large amounts of money.

Indeed, Den, it may be a story without substance but, what is interesting, is the fact that it is not being laughed out of court. It also highlights the precarious underpinnings that the EU rests upon.

Despite all the talk, the trappings of empire and the seemingly endless availability of money, one or two defaulters could indeed knock the whole idea of a single currency (and more) into a cocked hat.

Besides which, don't you buy and sell comics for a living? Are you not running a market? Do you not buy as cheaply as possible and sell at the highest price you think the market will bear?

i dont know whats hypocritical....you genuinely think you cant be in business and have a social conscience? you genuinely think that ripping off customers in the short term would be better than being a fair and decent person with a loyal base?

At work we get involved with EU funded projects and at the moment. all research teams in Greece are having to inform the government of thier work, which is being 'evaluated'
