Fan blooming tastic - proud to be British
« on: 08 May 2011, 16:48:07 »

I was pottering around outside taking advantage of the sunshine, when I heard an unmistakable noise growing in volume.

It was THE Vulcan - XH558.

She did a very low level pass right over the top of the house  ;D ;D ;D

As I watched her go away from me she then started to do a massive bank (wings vertical at one point), turn around and then come straight back again. Altitude was probably 200 feet or so for the 2nd buzz ......

Due to our proximity to Waddington we often get AWACS doing this - but this was a first for THE Vulcan.

That's set me up for the rest of the week that has  :y

Was in air cadets when a youth, sat in one at RAF Waddington - what a machine!! So much bigger than they seem when in air and what a roar !! Shows what Britain should really be about. ;D ;D

Flying from Donny Airport to Abingdon for a display, with a practice display over Waddo. On the way back to Donny right now.

I used to live with a girl in Tattershall. Everything flew out of RAF Coningsby including the last remaining Lancaster that still takes flight. We stood underneath it. The sound was incredible. It was low and appeared to hardly be moving.

The only other (if i'm right) is at East Kirby airfield & still taxis.

    Awe inspiring. :y

I'm pretty sure there are two flying Lancs left, the other is in Canada.
