There does appear to be a lack of decent films recently - I guess the film companies are holding back like the rest of industry.
Stuff I've watched in the last few months that have actually caught my attention (I tend to be on the computer, or reading, at same time)...
I was quite impressed with The Tourist (Jolie and Depp), though was predictable. I started watching it whilst doing something else, but found myself getting drawn towards the film.
The remake of Unstoppable with Denzil Pemberthy and monkey nuts from Star Trek, typical American film, very predictable, but an enjoyable couple of hours with the character relationship between the 2 main characters. Based (loosely) on a true story as well.
Knowing was quite fascinating, although has a sci-fi element, although key to the film, isn't part of the film, if that makes sense.
District 9 was an interesting film, very sci-fi, but could have been not sci-fi (those who have seen it will understand exactly what I mean).
I know you've seen Avatar, though I thought the middle bit dragged (though I think mine is the extended version).
A-Team was much better than I thought - I wasn't going to bother with it, then we saw a cut-to-ribbons version on a plane, and it looked good, so when it came out, we got it, and I really enjoyed it.
Star Trek was enthralling as well - as a franchise, its now full of holes, but a great film none the less.
The Kings Speech, despite being a chick-flick, was a worthwhile watch.
