I've read with a wry grin the ribbing of this member, but have wondered what he's done to deserve this.

Ahh I see.  There may be logical reason.  i.e. if he was up in the mountains and anything happens he will be easily spotted.
If that is'nt the case then he can't have anyone to blame but himself  ;)
