I am 46 max no claims and insured fully comp with Aviva, my bill last December was £280ish I was fairly happy. Wifes Astra is insured with them aswell.

If it gets stupid come renewal time will go elsewhere.

Do you live in or near a high crime area ? I believe this is making a big difference to policyies lately.

Mine's coming in around the same. I'm 36, 8 yrs NCB and driving an MV6 3L. All down to my postcode. One of the worst areas in the UK for insurance scammers.

My renewal dropped through the door at the weekend.

53 year old male, named driver wife 49..both max   no claims..used for business use with 30k year mileage..hire car /protected nc/legal cover £438....with Direct Line.

Now that is cheaper than last year and car is another year older..except it would probably be written off if I damaged more than the door mirror but still quite happy with that.

I had the same problem in Feb, me & the misses use Admiral Multicar for the Miggy & her Focus. Renewal for this time was £3547????>:( >:( >:(
Not very happy to say the least, so I went ont' tinterweb GoComparethemeekatInsurancesupermarket.com & for the same two vehicles input exactly as it was on our renewals the price for both cars was £1680??? And that was with Admiral!!!! Work that one out???  :-?
So I rang em up and quoted the interweb prices & the advisor said "You must have made a mistake!" So I gave her the quote ref. nos. and got a stunned silence. Totally didn't know what to say  >:( Near enough £2000 difference, cheatin moneygrabbin *&$%$$$***££*

I'd shop around and see what else there is around there, wouldn't be suprised if you did it online & got it well cheaper.

My current Insurance company quoted me £583!! up from £340 last year, I am 59, max no claims, and with them for over 7 years!!!
Checked 'go compare' and the same  bandits company quoted £385???? >:( >:(
Phoned and complained, and was told 'the renewal quote of £583 is the best quote we can do' When I mentioned the 'go compare' quote from their firm was almost £200 cheaper for the same thing, they said' we will match the internet quote then'
Why couldn't they do that the first time?? valued customer?? NOT!!
Actually got sorted with LV= for just £255 and with a lower compulsory excess of £100 rather than the £250 of my existing bandits So, LV= got the business..... :y

Just out of interest, the original company have just sent me my renewal for my other car, they haven't got a hope in hells chance...... Fiat cinquecento, with missy dodger, as occasional driver (passed test 6 years ago) £400!!!! :o
Just got same with LV= again, (lower compulsory excess) for £185....

Total, complete and utter Armitage shankers  ;D ;D ;D
