A day of Halfwits...
« on: 01 June 2011, 21:47:35 »

Today has been one of those days >:( >:(

Tried to get the Estate inspected and certified... The guy asked me to go this afternoon (well, he actually wanted me to go at 6pm but I said I'd go earlier in the afternoon). Arrived to be told it would be at least 3 hours ::)

So I popped over to Neo Brothers (as they were only 12 miles or so away) because I was planning to try out the Neuton NT5000 that are raved about by the Saab drivers. After I'd spoken to them this morning to check they had the tyres I wanted in stock I arrived and it took them over an hour to realise they didn't have any in stock, having removed at least one of my tyres from the rim. They then proceeded to try and convince me to have a smaller size ::) To top it off, when they refitted my old tyres at least one of them is out of balance and giving a frustrating vibration >:( >:(

Bunch of rather halfwits! >:( >:( >:(

Rant over!

On the plus side the Elite passed the inspection and will soon be on the register :y :y But even that wasn't easy... Discussion over the Vaporiser location and the spacing of the pipe clips. I ended up sticking COP 11 under his nose and pointed out that it was perfectly acceptable as the exhaust was shielded and the clips were closer than 600mm apart ::) ::)

Good price though... :y :y :y

Oh... And to top it off I rang my insurance company (as a courtesy) and got hold of someone in Delhi who didn't understand that I couldn't notify the DVLA at that time of day and it takes a few days anyway >:( >:( >:(

I hope you provided test evidence that the shielding was effective enough and that the ambient temperature at the shielded section  did not rise above the LPG ignition temperature.

Or would he know the difference ?.

Its a bit sad when you have to tell the "inspector" his job  :-X

Congrats on the pass, and welcome ( again ! ) to half price fuel  :y :y :y

Of course I did ::) ::) ::)

He did admit that there isn't really anywhere else to mount it ;) ;)

Oh... And commented that it was a very tidy job :y :y

I had a peek under the bonnet of a Subaru they were working on and I hope it was nowhere near finished as it wasn't to a standard I would accept... Although they were just leaving to calibrate it when I left :-X ::)

TBH, once we'd had a little "discussion" regarding COP 11 and the fact that the Vaporiser and pipework is close to a shielded exhaust component and that passes he was good as gold... Had a quick look at the ECU on ACSynchro and gave me a couple of pointers, although he did say that the map was pretty much spot on and would leave his place like that, and generally had a laugh :y

He also offered to supply any small parts if we have trouble getting hold of Teilo :y

That said, if the local guy is reasonably priced it's probably not worth you trekking into the depths of Barnet ;) I just needed it done ASAP as my insurance company were being a little awkward and I need to take the car into the centre of London on Saturday ::)
