Here is some beaurocracy...care of the fantastic UK NHS....
M-I-L (90) and disabled, felt bad a couple of days ago..Swmbo got doctor in last night. Thinks she has had a stroke

Had she/we called the doctor straight away, she would have been ambulanced to Wycombe General (two miles away). Because she felt bad originally two days ago, she had to go to Stoke Mandeville (20 miles away) by own transport.

After asking three receptionists where we had to go to the 'out of hours' surgery, we ended up in the back of beyond, after being given three different places to go to. Gave up and went back to main entrance, where things looked up when a porter collared us before we got to reception, said you are well away from the dept you want, so came in the car, told me to park at the front door on the ambulance drop off and said 'Stay there, no ambulances in today'

Two people in front of us....three hours later M-I-L was seen.....yes ...stroke. Needs a CT scan....where?...Wycombe General!!!!!!!!!
The people in the NHS might be lovelly....but the system stinks
EDIT I must just add that we were told that now she has been seen at Stoke Mandeville, if she feels bad again, she will be ambulanced to Wycombe General.....
