I reckon I'd fare better in my Westfield.

The Smart may have held together but after being punted up the road like that it's a sure thing the driver's internal organs would have been rearranged.

Needs some crumple zones but it's hard when your knees are up against the back of the number plate.

I've seen a Smart after a high speed, head on colision and to give credit where it's due the driver walked away with cuts and bruises Very dazed though 

The "safety cell" does do it's job as all the other panels were crumpled against it and you'd never have recognised it as a Smart

it may just have been one guy in a pub in the 80's, but i've assumed they all think the same....saves time
