i dont know in what context he used it, but the word is probably 'spatchcocking'.
Its a cooking term - its basically flattening out a bird (esp. chicken) before cooking.
Does that sound about right?

Not sure what context, he was talking to Steve Parish so God knows what them two where at. Private joke probably. Parish is as mad as Martin. In the Bar at Donnington Parish walked out the gents with the bog roll tucked in the back of his trousers

Drove round the course in my HS shovitt many years ago.
If I had to hit one of those dry stone walls, I would rather it was in a car.
Speaking of 4 wheels at the TT.......apparently mad sunday was ruined by some dick in a 911 driving round the course with oil p1ssing out of it - bikes slithering all over the place, so afaik it had to be cancelled.
Bet the 911 driver  was on the first ferry out - hiding from a lot of angry bikers.

A great driver with huge gonads. I remember watching him in the HSR on the Manx rally in 81(I was on honeymoon  ) and he was frighteningly fast.
Iirc he died from cancer quite some time ago - a sad loss.

Having maxxed out an 827 when I was young and stupid, and needing to use 2 lanes of clear, straight road to keep it on the black stuff, without corners, camber changes, kerbs, etc. I have huge respect for him.

I remember an article in CCC (remember that ?!) years ago where he had a test in an F1 car - he was very quick straight away. The F1 team were amazed at his pace.
I believe its called natural talent.

Well I just watched it and even though I'm not into bikes  ( bad RTA 1978  ) I have to offer up a huge load of RESPECT to these riders.
175 mph on council maintained roads  . The footage was superb and absolutley thrilling to watch .
I couldn't help a comparison with F1 and most track car racing and I never felt as enthralled watching any of that .
Irrespective of the sensibility ( or not as the case may be ) of it ,you cant help but admire their courage and skill.

I've an old VHS tape somewhere called " Man against Man " which I think is the IOM International circa '81 .
There are a couple of sections in it where the banter between Tony Pond and Jimmy Mcrae is hilarious .
I lived in Lanark for ten years and got to know Jimmy ( Crown Tavern  ) and I more than once  heard him say that Pond was a " worthy adversary " .

i used to have a 827 vitesse and could get it off the clock past 150mph

Yes, I think I'd stand by that comment, by and large. Of course the TT course is more dangerous for a bike rider, and as Albs says, you'd much rather be hitting one of those walls with some car metal than your own helmeted head, but its the lack of room on the road, the narrowness of the racing line which is more evident in a car - it just looks scarier!

Certainly the width is a factor as you say, the side cars struggle to pass each other on the course. But given a car will brake and corner more effectively than a bike, due to physics and body position in/on the vehicle, I'm thinking the bike has to work harder ....? The battering is far more pronounced and the speeds higher with less conferring and braking potential available for the biker to keep him out of the poo. The potential for disaster is greater, although that's an aside.
