Leading on from Guffers 'Infection Control' thread, I saw this on his link page. Another bit of Aviation History lost, though there may be some salvage there for use on other warbirds. :(

Well, at least the crew were OK.

A sad reminder that 70 year old technology isn't infallible. :(

Interesting read that & fact it was a test bed with 5th engine. Looks like fire started off quite small, had a safe landing, but fire then gutted it.  :'(

Odd for the fire to start so far back?  :-/
