As Mike said, fan ovens are quicker, the only drawback being that quite a few food retailers fail to put cooking times on their packaging and merely say 'refer to the instructions that came with your oven'.
On the upside, cooking times are reduced, so less energy is used. Also, you dont need to worry about 'top shelf' 'bottom shelf', it cooks evenly everywhere.

I can confirm this sometimes a wee bit of a pain, but you just reduce the temp slightly :y

It's a nightmare - we have been offered some money help and we want some decent stuff. Looks like 200 for a hob and 600 to 700 for an oven.

Also looking if we can fit a 5 burner hob in as well.

I have also moaned at the web sites for poor design.

I am out of my comfort zone now, we have a budget of don't take the pee.

We had a Neff at our last house and we have a Bosch cooker, also ECU and other car stuff.

We want to get a gas hob of 600 to 700mm and a 700mm high twin oven

Fitted a gas hob with 5 burners in the last place. It had a great big "wok ring" in the middle. Fantastic for stir frys.

I just went for budget stuff from MFI as far as the appliances went, and it was OK. depends how much use they're going to get above all. There are only 2 of us so it's not like they get a lot of stick. An oven is only a metal box with an element in whoever makes it and they're easy enough to fix if an element / thermostat goes.

Trawl the stores by all means.. just don't buy from them!  ;)

http://www.biasco.com are recommended even by Marks DTM (and that is some achievment!!)
for their prices.  He bought his (very nice) kitchen appliances from them.

Ovens....i prefer electric (convection).....depends what you want....so go for your choice there on features/size/etc

Hobs....i prefer gas...i usually go for 'cheap as chips' hobs.....usually less than £100....on the basis if it goes wrong.....its easier to throw it away and replace it......but none of them have yet!

Heres a thought.....if you have room......you could get 2 'cheap as chips' hobs in and give you 8 burners!  ;)
