Perhaps reading Guy`s post about his Mum, might put things here in a more human/e perspective.

Nicely put Debs... I do hope you're going to be able to pop over to the lakes, even if you have to bring the Disco, as I would really like to meet you (and of course the doggies!)

  We`re going to try.....but the Disco is just so murderously thirsty and 'funds' are tight......but we really will try and come.

I'll say one thing before I take my leave (for the night...sorry Albs, Broomie et al.....not leaving) I will say this - OOF is perhaps the best run, most active car forum I've ever come across, and as such its a pleasure to behold and an honour to contribute

Much!.........it averages 19  mpg on a run; worse in traffic......Veggie oil has gone up to nearly DERV prices lately, too.

My 300 tdi gets approx 30 mpg, driven gently....

Mine`s an auto.....with wide (grippy) tyres and a torque-converter that 'slips' like it`s churning dairylea.

Yup, 30.

Want at least 550, if not 570, miles per tank, lip fill to lip fill. If it falls short, obvious that my son has borrowed it in the interim.....

Mrs. Loo-knee's Discovery went to Devon & back on a full tank of diesel with a drop to spare. We reckon 30-32 mph. .
