Using EU rules , the contract could have been awarded to Bombardier by taking into account the location where the work was to be completed, and not just the cost factor. So the government is talking out of it's arse, because this is how Germany, and France give contacts to their own country.
We need to leave the EU ASAP, and stop the gravy train, stupid rules, immigation, and all the other crap we have to put up with.
A very good friend of mine works for Bombardier, and has done since it was British Rail Technical Services, and is hoping for his 40 year redundancy deal, he is also close to his pension. He thinks because of the cost the axe will fall on the younger employees, and his son in law has only got 2 years service.
It is a sad day for Derby, and all the peopled involved in the railway industry. Some government spokesman on Radio 4 this morning had the temerity to say that the companies supplying Bombardier would have to up their game and get work supplying other railway companies... PR**K
I despair
