Never driven one but been a passenger in one several times .Lovely interior , Comfortable for my 6'4 " frame and powerful too .
I just could never got over excited at the shape ,just too long in the 2+2 format , a bit like the 280Z versus the 240Z if you know what I mean ?  :-/

Sorry Mike my fault...
The difference between the Datsun 240Z and the Datsun/Nissan 280Z 2+2 version . The latter is spoilt by the longer wheelbase .
240Z

280Z 2+2

I've never driven one, but sat in them. Again it's very comfy if your long in the leg.

Something to add to the list for future replacement on a budget!

One of the most beautiful Japanese cars ever produced, I reckon, along with the Toyota 2000GT. Dribble.

Somehow I can't see Tunnie in an RX8, though.. far too much like a sports car for him, surely ;)

 ;D

A bit of a waste unless you like the interesting bit of the rev counter dial (you know, where it's red), too. ;)

Oil consumption is only a concern until you think about the fuel consumption. :o Then it pales into insignificance. Still, I would. :y

That goes for a 240Z too, if I ever found one that wasn't all crusty. :-*

Yeah, I don't think the fella at work spends much time out of single-digit economy! Makes the Omega look positively frugal..

Indeed - most of the ones left in the UK are complete basket cases.. and the ones that aren't fetch silly money :(

The last one I saw bought as a project turned out to be a 'flintstones' car.. and it didn't look that bad from the outside (until you lifted the carpets, anyway, and then the floor fell out)

I can recall being offered a 240z for £70 in 1978. it was only about 7 years old, but they were starting to become sought after even then. I walked away because there was so much rust in the bloody thing. ::) ;D
I often drive past one on the way to work, which looks in lovely condition - worth a tidy sum I should imagine.

I drove one of the early ones and they are fun to drive esp as the power comes from the correct wheels.  To get full power though you have to rev the nuts off of it which increases oil cons......

This from Honest John:
Car must NEVER be started then shut down without reaching full operating temperature or petrol washout will harm rotor seals. Car must not be used for short runs from cold.

Bit of a worry that. :-/

That is essential advice; if you ignore it then you can guarantee that it won't start due to severe flooding. VERY common problem. They are a nightmare to get going again, I manage about 1 in 10. Mazda changed the plug specs and upgraded the coils, but it's just like upgraded K-series head gaskets, the problem is improved but not totally cured.

Personally, I think the RX8's reliability/durability(it doesn't have any!)/economy record is proof why the Wankel isn't suited to car use, although it does have other applications.
