Gayphones
« on: 24 July 2011, 02:19:38 »

Went to to a concert tonight and, it seems, practically everyone in the audience was determined to burn everyone's retinas out with a high intensity white LED as they filmed their uphill-gardening mates "at the concert", before deciding they ought perhaps to be watching the band instead - through the screen of their gayphone, of course, while filming it.

.. Because a gayphone with a minute, crap, plastic lens is, of course, ideal for recording video in low-light conditions. ::)

"Those blobs at the top of the screen are the lights , and those blobs at the bottom of the screen that are bouncing around in time to the music, are the band."

Whatever happened to just getting plastered and enjoying the music? >:( That's what I did, anyway. ;D

:y Kevin, you are absolutely right in your description of the youth of today. It is sad that todays youth cannot do what we did and just have a hell of a time and a bit of the weed if we were minded to. The music was all it was about. Mainly born with no hope of ever having common sense and not a chance of having any though for anyone else but themselves as individuals appears to be the edict of the youth today. Worst part is that sadly it is us, the parents who have allowed it to reach this stage.....Oh, and the teachers of course who cannot instill discipline if their lives depended on it.. Nuff said. :y

When I videoed a band I had the decency to use a proper camera with portable VCR.

And you can recognise the people and now the material is loved as one of the people died in 2009 :( :( :( :(

I think some people go just for the status that they can say they went (hence needing the video proof), rather than to actually enjoy it.

I suppose I should have known. It's all about creating content for some social networking site really. Actually going to the concert was just an inconvenience along the way. ::)

Perhaps they'll invent virtual social activities one day, where they just enter the activity and which of their mates are going and it posts some blurry pictures without inconveniencing everyone else. ::)

A band doesn't have to be famous to be good ;).  In fact, go around the pubs and clubs, you will see a lot more talent than the supposed megastars at mega-concerts.  OK, there is a fair amount of dross as well, though that includes well known groups as well...
