I have been stung..........
« on: 24 July 2011, 17:34:43 »

Whilst cutting the grass I disturbed a bush, unbeknown to me there is a wasps nest in the middle, about the size of a small football, and they came out to defend it.............and they were successful.... :-[ :-[

Any tips on getting rid, I can't use fire where it is at.... :(

Here's what I did a few years ago when I had one in a tree at the bottom of the garden.
I bought an aero Wasp nest killer and taped it to a long pole (a 5m carp pole) and shoved it into the bottom of the nest. Then I retired to a safe distance and with my m8s air rifle poked through a window I shot the can then closed the window quick....BIG puff of smoke... big cloud of wabbies then they fell like rain and wriggled a lot. The nest was abandoned the next day I looked. Didn't get one sting either. Just got bollocked for the bodies that were lying everywhere on the decking! Cannot please some women.......

i was in the back of our service van one day and in came a wasp so i sprayed it with brake cleaner, outcome was the wasp curled up and died instantly.ive tried it since but it took longer but the brake cleaner was a different make.id be tempted to pierce a tiny hole in the nest and spray some eazy start in as its supposed to put them to sleep and then bag the buggers up(easy to say when its not you doing it ;D)

You can get a foam that you spray into the nest but if you are going to do it wait until night time :y

While sailing last week one of my crew, a young lady, had a wasps fly inside of her top and start stinging her.  Que lots of wriggling and jumping about followed by the rapid removal of clothes.  Of course the men on board did the right thing and just sat back and watched  ;D ;D 8-)

and be ready to run horrble things..pest control is the best cost about £ 35
BUT if they are solitary honey bees(dunno why they are called that as they live in a nest with about 1000 others) they are protected :y

Mike, you need to go right up close to the nest and give it a good kick.

Let me know how you get on. :y

I fling a ton of water at the nest we had once...via a hose. Took a while but eventually they all decided it was a bit damp in there so all flew off !

Mike, don't bother with anything that is available to the retail Market... You will anger them and may not kill the queen off. For the sake of about £40 get a pro in... Admittedly he'll probably only be there 15 minutes but it's well worth it ;)

(I speak from experience as it was my fathers industry for many years)
