Duck eggs.
« on: 25 July 2011, 19:01:14 »

Our closest neighbour who lives about 400 yards from us popped round with a dozen free range duck eggs for us to try.

Pale in colour and quite large, I've not eaten them before.

Any different from hen's eggs? :y

Duck eggs are very tasty, alot richer and yellower yolk and flavour than hens eggs, however they do have a higher risk of containing Salmonella. If in doubt make sure that they are hard boiled or if frying cook the yolks till they are hard. Dont let me put you off though cos cooked correctly they are very nice :y

Local farm shops around here sell for 20p each which i'm more than happy to pay.

They take you back to your childhood when eggs actually had a taste. They are usually sold to regular customers & used while fresh. A good sign is they've sold out, which often happens in which case i buy the free range chook eggs.

Give them a go, you'll never buy supermarket eggs again! :y
