Most macho name for a car
« on: 04 June 2007, 00:45:42 »

In these days of emasculated car names like the Daihatsu Charade ::), isn't it nice to reminisce about the days when cars had real he-man names, like this one.

Shame about the colour, though. :(

"Boss Eliminator". Sounds handy.  ;D

Sadly the only thing I can see that eliminating is the federal oil reserve.

I remember my old man had 2 vauxhall CRESTAS, big bench seats, colum gear change, all leather and wood, what a lump of a car.

I always thought CRESTA sounded big and classy

........ big bench seats, colum gear change .......

Can you imagine the reaction from Joe Public if a manufacturer was to reintroduce either of those ideas! Column changes are great - especially on an auto! Like the early P5's & MkII Jags  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;D

Mmm. I once had a Victor with column seats. I was about 18 at the time and found the bench seat most agreeable, especially when escorting young fillies home from the pub....  Oh happy days!  ;) ;) :)

And a total PITA on a manual, as in the Renault 16  ;D

As to bench seats, it would be very interesting to try them these days. Given that they're generally associated with cars of a rather modest cornering capability I suspect it would be interesting in something that handled!

Is that anything like the umbrella handle stuck out of the dash like a 2CV? I drove moved one down the road once. No idea what gear I was in!  :o  :y

Probably worse. It's very like an an indicator stalk, except that most indicator stalks aren't connected to mechanical bits which get grumpy if you "indicate" without using the clutch!
