The front window of Currys electrical store was smashed and the door of Argos was shattered after looters raided the stock room.

Every handset was stolen from a mobile phone store.

Teenagers and adults were said to have turned up in cars to Tottenham's retail park and filled their boots with stolen items, unimpeded by police.

Apparently because they were prioritising the safety of the fire service attending the burning buildings.

It comes to something when the Police have to surrender control of the streets... and, indeed, when the fact that getting caught is unlikely makes it OK to make off with whatever you fancy. :(

They where chucking everything they had at the Riots, not the looting. I guess they did not have the resources to send people to the retail park. They would have had to send quite a few officers to get that under control, so I guess riots with buildings on fire was the priority.

I kind of agree with that, insurance will pick up the tab for the looting in a retail park.

The real danger to the public where the fires, and violence on the high street.

Met is having its budget cut, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

If they had sent 4 plod cars over there, they would likey have been trashed too, "4 lone officers beaten by looters, in retail park" does not have a nice ring to it.

Personally I think they should have sent the Army in with plastic bullets......

Raiding currys/argos/jd sports (or whatever its called). They were obviously chavs.Didnt occur to them to raid the apple store full of macs. ::) :D
Seriously though. It appears that the police took a softly softly approach at the beginning and then the situation ran away from them.Maybe because they got stick for being too hard on previous rioters ? Maybe because an extraordinary number of senior police officers have socioligy degrees, but little,if any experience pounding the beat ? who knows, but its inexcuseable imo for this type of thing to be allowed to happen in our capital city.Water cannon with indelible dye would have sorted it, and should be available if needed.
As for Ken Livingstone,Dianne Abott etc.(usual suspects) to come crawling out of the woodwork and start blaming " the cuts" - give me rather strength. >:(

It's OK, the BBC say it's because the poor darlings are 'disaffected'..

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14438924

Disaffected my ass, they're just common thugs and pondlife!

Albs, swap out the indelible dye with the stuff they use in Israel - smells like raw sewage and sticks around a while..  ;D Or just plain add it to the dye - maybe orange? Stinky umpa-lumpa rioters..

Don't quite understand looting whilst rioting. At what point do you stop standing up for what you believe in and decide life would be better with a free radio alarm clock?  :-/
