Looks a blast & loving the CBX & the Big Z. I'm still considering taking my bike test (wish i'd done it when i was 17 ::)) But what's stopped me is struggling to behave my self on 2...or sometimes 1 wheels! Given my job i simply can't get banned & it's only a twist of the throttle away on most bikes. Also up here in Lincs there are some lovely ride out roads & the police know it. I'm a big bloke so need a big bike & the 1200 Bandit would usually be my first choice but given it's character & my lack of self discipline a big tourer like the GS might well be a better bet despite being 3 or 4 times the price so would be a while before i could afford one but it would be a keeper. A mate of mine works for Astle BMW nearby so keeping sevice history would'nt be too bad. :-/

Great bike Tunnie. Even with (I guess about 300 plus kilos ) to lug about, it should still go like shit off a shovel.

At my age I really fancy the idea of a big cubed tourer. :y :y

Take a test ride, they are more than willing to lend you one all day. Previous person took it for 417 mile blast!

Do it Guy  :y

I learned for the challenge, a new skill. I have not looked back.

Did same with Snowboarding!

You don't need power to enjoy biking, I enjoy driving my 4pot Omega....I've had it for 6 years, I've had funds to change to a V6 if I wanted to, I've had several project cars but I always liked my little 2.2  :)

For me just being on the bike is fun in twisty lanes, the extra go is nice though. Even my lardy GS, will see off most things on 4 wheels.

Given your height, I feel you may struggle a bit with the GS, they are tall. One of the reasons I like it, as I'm not to scrunched up on the bike.

Perhaps something like F650 or F850 would suit you to begin with?

All I can say is go for it, nothing like a tent strapped to the back (or set of  clothes for B&B) and heading off to somewhere like Snowdonia / Wales   along lovely twisty roads on a sunny day!

Still got loads to do, like taking the bike to new places  :)

Fancy a run over to Cromer at some point. Next big bike trip is a tour of North Scotland, been as far as Edinburgh, but want to go as far as John O' Groats

beemer 6 unit, is only slightly bigger then standard I4's - Its got very small pots.

Like the Z1300 long stroke

The CBX though was deliberately built without a front frame member so the vehicles in front could see all 6 cylinders when you come up behind them.

It had the most scare factor of any bike due to that

BMW, apart from the small 6 stamped on the side of the engine block you cannot tell.

Checked on Autotrader this morning, GS's don't half hold their value well!!!  :o :o :o

I bought mine in the depths of the 'depression' in 2009 for £6,150 from a BMW dealer!!!, 2006 on a 56 plate.....

One older than mine about same miles still on market for £6k  :o
