Last seen at 78,000 names and climbing fast. Should easily make the 100k.

I also notice this:

Rioters in Manchester and Salford have been told that they face being evicted from their council homes if they are identified on CCTV footage.

This is great. Stop benefits, evict council tenants. These folk are incapable of looking after themselves & going to work. We have to provide them with homes & a free income because they are too plain stupid to do it themselves.

  Here come the human rights act to piss on that parade! ::)

Word for Word what I was going to write.

I however foresee new additions to the 'Riot Act' laws..... hopefully which will include things such as;

Mandatory Prison Sentence (term dependant on seriousness of involvement), followed by mandatory 6 Months Curfew order, only allowed out during Daylight Hours.  Whilst the convict is serving their Curfew period, they MUST carry out 8 Hours per day of Community Service UNLESS they have FULL-TIME PERMANENT employment.

It'll never happen though.

been talking about this very thing today. Sadly it'll never happen for the reasons Amigo has said. The whole thing is just symptomatic of England today. Next thing itll be people in these communities talking of" taking back their streets". There have already been plenty of interviews where asian business owners have said they will bring friends and family in to protect their interests and I spoke to a Chinese lady today who said the Chinese community in London was offering to protect their own too (as well as making sure that they knew exactly where their kids were!). Doubtless we would feel/act the same in their position. Doubtless too that any form of such "vigilantyism" will be jumped on like a ton of bricks despite this governments recent comments regarding the legal rights of people to protect their properties re burglary. So much for victims rights. Andrew Marr probably quite correctly points out that one of the most enduring traits of the "British" was their reticence and patience that saw the populace accept social injustices that in other nations would have seen rioting, pushing for change mostly through lawful channels and grin and bearing hardships with either black humour or sang froid , generally tolerant of others and slow to resort to violence. Is the tide changing? Are we coming to the end of our tether now, fed up of what is becoming of our society and what WE are allowing our governments to do either with their insane "political correctness" or else support for the blatant greed of the few? The resounding answer must surely be "YES!!". So, what are we gonna do about it, all us whinging old gits, the Victor Meldrews of Britain, defenders of common sense and fairness, of equality and freedom? .........Yep, were gonna do bugger all. But wait. Wait and moan and find the black humour in it all and marvel at the madness of the world and pray it gets better. Because we're British and thats the British way. (Oh yeh, and a cuppa tea and a fag while were doing it...just dont let us catch any little scrotes  messing with our property! :y)

I have an idea of where they can go..

Any looter who was on benefits can go over to Somalia (or some other poverty and famine stricken part of the world), and we'll bring some of them over here and give them the benefits & council houses the looters were previously enjoying.

The looters can have a taste of real poverty, and the Somalians will think they've died and gone to heaven.

*mutters*

I had to mute the TV last night when the BBC were interviewing some (well fed, overweight) woman wearing (relatively new looking chavvy) clothes with her offspring bleating on about how the riots were a result of the social deprivation they're suffering.. otherwise the vein currently throbbing on the side of my head was in danger of exploding. Like it is now.

Gah. So. Angry.

I don't know about losing benefits. I think castration would be the most effective punishment.

That sounds like a good idea, preferably with a pair of blunt, rusty spoons!

Unfortunately, very true. As a "civilized" society we would still be obliged to house and support these morons. >:( However, rather than pay their benefits in money (that they would normally squander on booze, drugs, fags etc.) give them coupons specifically for essentials such as food and clothing and make them do community work for their housing.

Although I am with you all the way....however, debating will just get the normal result...no action taken !!! Because do-gooders will take over the debate >:(
