I friend of mine had the model before the ZX-10 way back in the eighties. We all drooled over it at the time. It was red and f**king beautiful. It was called the GPZ 1000 RX if memory serves. Long...long .....long time ago now. :y
I had a GPz 1100 injection back in the day (1992), that was something else (at the time) and scared me more than once.
Not so much because of the acceleration or power, but because 60KG just isn't enough to keep something that heavy under manners from a handling point of view when you tell the computer to throw in as much fuel & air as possible  ;D

Need to buy a new battery - the fairing is showing the signs of removal every time I use it to jump the tinker ::)

Any specific advice on batteries - cheap is good, cheap and nasty is not so good.
You can't really go wrong with Yuasa batteries, and they aren't that much more than the cheap & nasties.

I used to like Yuasa batteries, but the forum's UPS eats them for breakfast (though I guess the heat doesn't help).

The last battery I bought for the ZX10 was one of those where you add the acid yourself, and I've never been impressed with it TBH - the bike does suffer warm-start issues, and is often left for weeks without use.

What would the life of a bike battery be - this is the first bike I've had where I've had to change the battery (twice!), though have had it a while now.  Last time I checked, it was charging at about 14.5v at 3000rpm.

Its a bit of pain every time we've thought of going for a blast & we have to wait half an hour for your battery to get some charge   ;D

Then there is the trip to the petrol station & gambling if the bugger will start again  ;D

Have you got a battery conditioner to leave on it when it's not in use? I've got a CTek that gets plugged into the Westfield when it's not in use and it makes a big difference to battery life. :y

160 miles approx  :-[

That's less than a tank of petrol  :-[

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

I did more than that yesterday!  ;D ;D ;D

It may have a " I-want-a-poofters-badge" - But at least mine uses more than a tank of fuel in a year  :P

I've clocked up about 1,500 miles so far this year  :)
when i used to despatch ride in the early 90's i've covered that sort of mileage in a week on a kawa gt550 :D

I was looking, but never got one.  Have a cheapo Clarke trickle, but that causes a lot of gas in the battery, so probably too powerful...

Got the same problem on mine. Left it stood idle for too long and now the battery has died. Must get it sorted and either sell it or start using it. :-/

Its funny, I get called a poofter for having a GS, but at least I use it. All of you other "cool" kids with your faster road bikes don't use them  ;D ;D

No idea how many miles Ive covered on bikes since October 1975, but Im getting older (and more arthritic) and at the moment my interest seems to be waning. Ive no real problem about selling it, but theres that little thought in the back of my mind that if I do I probably wont get another, and to acknowledge that I wont ride bikes again- ever - is a big step tbh.
