Before last weekend I'd have said Auto all the way, predominantly as I potentially do very high mileage, but I enjoyed driving the manual V6 back from Bucks for a change.

As far as you lot of 'proper' drivers bleating that you get more control over a stick is concerned, it's b0110x!! You just don't know how to drive an auto properly that's all!!

I thought they all were....with paddles on the steering wheel for up/down changes

Ahh. Now we're talking. Straight cut sequential dog box with paddle shift. Changes gears clutchlessly in about a nanosecond, nice close ratios.   :-*

Certainly makes stirring the stick around an H-gate for a gear look pretty tedious.

Unfortunately I think the noise would get on my wick, not to mention the gearbox rebuilds every 2000 miles.

I've always maintained my preference for a manual box, but since I've driving the new MV6 auto I'm not so sure now :-/

Auto all the way for me, I love em!!

Manuals just get on my nerves after a few miles.

I agree! More so when I smoked, I very quickly ran out of hands as I set off in a manual. When you're in an auto you can still fasten your seat belt as you set off, as you wait for the ciggy lighter to get hot so you can light your cig!  ;)  ;)  When I used my Omega for work I could take my coffee with me as I had a spare hand to drink it with. I have to drink it at home now that I use a manual Astra diseasal.  :(  :y  :y   All while in complete control of the car Ociffer.

NB My tongue is planted firmly in my cheek as I speak.  ;)  ;) :y

Auto every time for me. After being stuck in endless tailbacks on the M1 last Fri it made the journey so much easier  :)

Prefer manual, but my last meega was an automatic, was surprised to get the current meega as a manual as usually autos. Did like the old sports button on them autos :y

Is a manual that funny thing with a third pedal that you have to keep humping up and down, and waving the stick about, never being in the right gear at the right time? ::)

on a 2litre screaming 16v the manual was a must, on the v6's i vote for autos for stop start driving. which is kinda what all driving is :)

but now i got a manual 2.5 with cruise control so i got best of both worlds?! it's faster than my old auto 3.0 too.....

a bonus of autos i guess is you can't start in gear, or go without brake lights working (thats a pain when the switch breaks)

the grin factor makes the manual win for me  :D
oh and a mechanic pointed out once that one clutch plate is better than 27  :-?

Vectra Elite Estate doing good post-Omega service but still not as nice to sit in.

One last Omega on the drive, one Corsa on the lawn...maybe they'll go to a good home before too long!

Auto, V6, climate, cruise, Bose, Leather.

The logical end of an argument for manuals is a Westfield ( or a Saxo :P ;D ).

I did see a Diesel Westy in Autotrader this week?!  :-?

You're right. Go to one end of the comfort / dirveability scale or the other. Works for me.

... although I have seen one or two automatic sevens built (and peddled, damn quickly too) by disabled guys. Huge amounts of credit due there. They must have b@lls of steel to drive something that quick on hand controls!
