I'm also impressed with wwII but from technological aspect. In how short time can human build so many things and ways to kill another human and yet it still continues. Sad.

sadly , its a reality we cant ignore.. all world wars stem from the fact that highly industrialized countries (of which %90 have capitalist system) need large markets and strong supplies to continue their growth..and unfortunately world resources and lands are limited compared to their limitless ambition and increasing population..

although nukes -with the fear of total human kind destruction- stopped another world war for long time, I dont think this delay for fight will be for long..because increasing populations demand more and more resources.. and here I neglect the local (although #1 actor is always the same super power with unconvincing reasons)  wars also having the same cause.. :( :(

Considering unstable situation all over the world and the fact that histort repeats.....draving a parallel can give an obvious answer about where it all leads to

War always advances society, take the Jet age. Doubt it would have come around that close without it.

Heathrow was built using seized land using emergency powers, no paperwork or ask the locals. It was at the end of the war, we did need that extra runway  ::)
