Busy day!
« on: 27 August 2011, 18:27:54 »

First off took my GS for a MOT, went to BMW Oxford, while I waited enjoyed a nice cup of tea and it was soon done. Passed. No advisories! Not bad for a 5 year old bike with 36k miles.

Took a 60 mile detour back home since weather was nice, then set to work on the my 2.2. Yesterday it had new shocks & springs on the back, today it had:

4 new plugs
throttle body clean
new coolant bottle (old one has knackered sensor)
new air filter
new pollen filter
flushed washer bottle fluid
replacement door card

Throttle body did not look too bad considering its not been removed for about 30k

Its also getting 4 new tyres in a couple of weeks, so my old steed will be in fine shape!

Could do with an expert eye on my spark plugs, these had done about 45k, around 19k of that has been LPG. Look like its got a fair amount of crud built up on them? (not had any issues, just replacing as part of service)

All done, and its looks presentable once again!

I used to change my plugs every 10k on my 2.2 when it got a service.....i used to use the same plugs as you....LPG needs a good spark.....and for the cost of 'em   ;)

Blimey! I've been lazy, I should have changed them when it was LPG'd - But its been fine, so far. Just thought it was about time it was treated to a fresh set.

Slightly concerned about all that crud on the electrodes, but then again, have done a lot of miles  :-/

I should use it more, always more organised when I do use it. Got it with my Halfords Tool box thing....

Really should get one of those magnetic thingies!

The GM twins are rated for 40k, so I'd changed them at around 20k. They are cheap, easy, and start to degrade as soon as they go in. LPG wants a good spark, so no point trying to win durability competitions....

Btw, my 22yr old bike passed first time as well ;)
