Guffer, if the activity has died down then it my be man enough :y It's not the ones you can see you need to kill though ;) If it kills the queen, which is only possible if the workers pick up the powder and take into her) then the nest will abandoned within 24-48 hours :y

Incidentally, if you're sure you've killed them it's well worth removing the nest an dissecting it (with appropriate protection) because they're fascinating structures :y

As for the other comments about Wasps... They have done the important thing they were put on the planet for, they have taught us how to make paper :y They can just go now ;)

My little dog tried to eat a wasp last week, got stung in the mouth for her trouble. I felt really sorry for her as it must have been really uncomfortable.
Next day, I went to find what she was up to......found her trying trying to eat another wasp.......stupid dog. ;D

Tbh I am going to knock it out and then burn the tinker.  I hate bugs as I have a blood type/hormone/something they just adore.  The problem is that to get to the nest I will have to cut a section of a bulkhead out...grrrr

Don't bother... If the queen dies the nest will never be used again :y

They have also shown us that they can ruin a BBQ and can do the breastroke in your pint of lager  >:(

They do kill flies to take back to said nests as food, otherwise hate 'em. Hav'nt been stung this year. I know not to panic & swat hoping they'll go away but if you have food or a drink in your hand or traces on your mouth they won't give up, with my hands full at a market this weekend out of desperation  i actually spat one to the floor & stomped it.

This time of year they've done thier breeding & the remainder we see now are looking for food before they die, female & large!
