Was chatting to my little brother yesterday about various things (mainly my forthcoming op), and we got on to the subject of mobile phones.
Now I've been in the Sony Ericsson camp for quite a while (mainly because of one piece of software), but my gripe with my current handset (Neo) was that the camera couldn't zoom when in HD mode (either still or video).
I mentioned to my brother that I was going to replace the Neo with the Arc (as the bug was fixed on that model), and that's when he mentioned the SII.
Now I have played quite extensively with the SII as my daughter has one, and overall it is a nice phone although there wasn't enough there to justify the price difference between it & the Arc.
What actually made me go & get it was after reading about what the phone was like once the crappy Samsung firmware has been removed.
I put Leomar75's RevolutionROM on it as soon as it was out of the box, and after less than 24 hours I am already satisfied that the Samsung firmware won't be going back on.
I'll report back on things like battery life later, but there is already a noticeable difference in general performance.
It also seems to enable the Wi-Fi a lot quicker as well as getting a GPS fix much quicker using the Leomar ROM, and the boot up time is vastly improved.
If anyone here has an SII, I'd highly recommend using the RevolutionROM over the Samsung one - you won't go back once you have.
