If you later cancel subscription, do you also lose the multiroom facility ? :-/

Depends whether you want all the channels. If your only wanting free channels, you can use a sky box and wire it up to the dish on any spare LNB's and bob's your uncle.

Its just the connector on the dish for the cable... no idea what the hell LNB stands for though

Low Noise Block Down-Converter (LNB).

Best bet is to check if you have any spare capacity on your LNB - if your dish is a recent installation you may have a quad LNB - say 2 ports going to a recorder type box and 2 spare - you can just run cables to the bedrooms  and install Freesat HD for example

If you don't want to watch in both rooms at once and aren't bothered about HD quality in the remote room, feed the second room from the RF out of the main set top box and  use a remote eye to control it.

Multiroom also needs a phone line to every box in the house so it's  a pain in the crack, IMHO, unless you absolutely need to watch 2 Sky channels at once.

Thanks for the info.I shall get the ladder out in the morning and have a look.Weve been here about 6 years and the dish was here when we got here, so not very new.
If I run a length of co-ax from the dish to a sky box in the bedroom, will we be able to watch a different channel to the one being watched downstairs ?
Edit. Just read Kevins post. Not bothered about HD.Havent even bothered getting it on the main TV which is capable of having it. Do want to be able to watch different channels though.
Did have a magic eye installed a few years ago, but it packed up after a few months.
All 3 TV,s have inbuilt freeview, so a freeview ariel may be the way to go.
Also have a Humax box which is still in its packaging from a year or so ago.
So many options................. :-/ :-?

If you want to watch the same chanel in other rooms, follow Kevs post. It's also what we have.

If you want differant channels in another room you need a set top box per room. Or a multiroom subscription per room to be precise.

Multiroom is expensive.

Viewing by rf is easiest and cheapest and can allow as many TV's as you like provided there are enough outlets on the junction box. Digi eye and remote per extra tv needed if you want to control the digibox per tv.

I think you do for some of the free channels, but most will work. IIRC Sky will sell you a "free to air" card for a one-off £20 or something. I'd just buy a freesat set top box if going this route, though.

I never had a card in mine, but as Kevin said, get a set top box too. Same result
