Omega 2.5v6   1    Cossie  0
« on: 08 June 2007, 16:17:42 »

Hi,

Just thought i would fly the flag for the omega as i had a race earlier on my local A road with a sierra cosworth.  COnsidering he has a turbo and dump valve blowing off every 2 seconds , i held him off all the way from 80 to 140mph. His face was a picture i will cherish for a long time. Obviously from a standing start he may have won , but a long stretch , combined with some very tight sweeping bends (doing 120mph plus) , i outhandled, outperformed and generally smacked his bum.

Matt ;D

Yeah. Probably same acceleration due to all his wheelspin. I absolutely hammered him in the bends. I was suprised myself how good the omega handled.

I'm sorry peeps but I can't belive you had a Cossie in a race LOL ;D
Having owned a Cossie sierra i know for a fact it would take an Omega from the start, out accelerate ,out corner and deffo out top end you.
infact my last 4 cars would destroy an Omega in a race
Cossie Sierra
Mitsubishi Eclipse
Scooby Wrx
Skyline  GTS R33
Don't want to rain on your parade but I don't think the cossie owners were trying ,or couldn't drive LOL ;D
I love the Omega for it's refined power and comfort, but it sure aint no Street Racer 8-)

I agree with TOOL, the cosworth sierra is a very rapid car, theres not many standard (230 BHP) ones on our roads, most have been tuned & modded to give up to 300+ BHP. Also there are alot of fake cars with the body kits etc that look very much like the real thing. My 2.0 16 v standard car had trouble keeping up with a Golf tdi the other day :-[

I'd have to agree with Tool on this one, a standard Cossie will easily beat even a manual 3.0/3.2 in almost all conditions. And I suspect there are very few standard Cossies out there these days. I had a Scooby WRX STi and that would quite easily out-accelerate my 840 until well into triple figures (840 has a higher top speed but is heavier), and the 840 in turn will easily out-accelerate my 3.0 Omega at any speed. I suspect the Cossie would have pretty similar performance to my Scooby.

Now if there were a significant number of corners in there it's quite possible you're a much better driver which was enough to overcome the performance deficit. I had a similar run-in with a Corrado VR6 in my Omega, he out-accelerated me off a roundabout onto a NSL dual-carriageway, but there were a few bends about half a mile up the road and I came past him there as he slowed so much :D

It's this kind of behavior that kills innocent children  >:(

Two young lads were killed head on when two people playing a simelar game lost control - only last week

Sorry guys, I am locking this off.

Discussions about street racing and doing highly illegal speeds are not what we are about.

If you want to race, take it to a track.
