Absolutely. Couldn't put it better myself.  Though, I think the footie was a bit ambitious....

And i haven't been that knackered in years  

AA kindly brought me a chair to rest on part way through....


...the emarrassing thing was, AA, despite being retired, is fitter than us

Obviously golf and afternoon naps is the answer  

Ive got some football footage......it took my camera nearly 20mins to download it all to my pc!
Now ive just got to edit it a bit.......and post it up.....its not brilliant but then it was a cheapo digital camera trying to take video footage....i'll try to get round to it the next couple of days

left around 12:45 ish i think, can't really remember. Got back just after 5, but i made 2 stops, one for body fuel, the other for propper fuel.

you left around 12. yet I left a good half hour later, and got home 45mins before  

I had a 15 min stop around Jc 15 on the M6... was hungry! cruised at 80 down to there, then it was about 60/70ish after that, was much busier, when i noticed the fuel going down too fast, I sat behind a truck for about an hour. Then had another stop this time for fuel, had to TomTom one off in Shirley. That took another 10 mins.

I did not use the M6 toll either so that made it slower. I was in no hurry.....

we saw a matrix warning about debris in carriageway, wondered if it was part of your car.....

I saw a couple of wot looked liked sleeping bags rolled up in nylon bags in the central reservation going thro that bit.......dunno if that was the reason..... :-/

Perhaps they meant 'senator on the move'  :-/

Well, just got back home safely. Thanks to Chopsdad and all others involved in the organisation for a great weekend.

Clocked up 837.4 miles   thanks to our venture into deepest, darkest Wales on Thursday / Friday.

Overall fuel consumption from MID 30.2 MPG (27.7 gallons burnt) 59 MPH average speed. Not bad considering there were some blats up and down mountain passes in that lot.

I did not use the M6 toll either so that made it slower. I was in no hurry.....

Neither did we and I'm not convinced it would have made it any faster. The "M6 Toll information" matrix displayed "M6 Congestion M6 toll clear" as usual. Didn't have any change handy so just took the M6 and it was totally clear apart from one little slow (40mph) patch around the M5 junction. Would really have had to cane it round the toll to have covered that ground quicker IMO.

Had an excellent run back, meet Kevin Wood on the way back.... (btw sorry i did not wave as you went past kev, Last time i looked you were there, then you shot past!)

He He. You were oblivious when we went past first time too! I think you were in lorry following mode and appeared to be distracted trying to wedge matchsticks under your eyelids, presumably in an attempt not to nod off!

I noticed a green Omega saloon on the hard shoulder of the M6 just north of Brum with the fuel filler cap open. Not one of us I hope?

Yeah. I noticed a bird trying to wedge what looked like a sleeping bag into the windows of a Rover 25 on the hard shoulder. Don't know what was going on there?
