I can't believe....
« on: 09 June 2007, 21:24:48 »

.....the pathetic amount offered for this estate. This seller really knows his omegas and always does the cambelt before selling. What do people want? Free cars?

Realistically a good clean one of these should easily fetch £1,700.

I am slightly concerned he has failed to mentioned how many previous owners it has had.

£745... that is ridiculous!

I have met this seller in person. He bought a REALLY clapped out old CDX V6 from me, for spares/repairs for £150.

He uses the engine's/gearboxes out of old breakers etc to repair later cars, and then sell for profit.

Knowing that, I wouldn't want to pay anymore than a grand for it....

What I'm trying to say is, although this seller knows his cars (and I don't think does a bad job)

It could have a lump in it from a much older Omega....

Is that engine from a pre mini face lift with the shorter plenum chamber ?

Are you sure Martin?

The 2.5's all have the short plenum... only the 3.0 (and 2.6/3.2) had the extended one...

Also... Looking at the connectors in the engine bay.. they seem to be 98+...

Were they - oh - I have only owned 3.0 or 2.6 never a 2.5 and I thought all later .25 were long plenum like the 3.0s

No, all 2.5 are short, as are early 3.0.

3.0l has longer plenum to increase capacity for the larger engine - the plenum volume should be tuned to capacity. Strictly, the 2.6 should ideally have shorter plenum, but GM had to fit the larger one to fit all the DBW servos.
