How much of a difference is it between the two and is it that much noticeable.

2.6 is around 176bhp and 3.2 around 213bhp.
I used to have a 2.5v6 estate and now have a 3.2v6 estate and the difference is very noticeable, but I'm not sure how much difference with the 2.6.

I have a 2003 Omega brochure, and the figures for performance are as follows, I know it's not real world figures but should give you an idea...

2.6 saloon manual (auto figures in brackets):
0-60 in 8.5 secs (9.5)
Top speed 142 mph (139)

2.6 estate manual (auto):
0-60 in 9.0 secs (10.0)
Top speed 137 mph (134)

3.2 saloon auto
149 top speed, 0-60 in 8.0 secs

3.2 estate auto
144 top speed, 0-60 in 8.5 secs

Thanks folks,reason i ask is my brother is on lookout for a mig now and wants to swap his vec 2.2 sri(slightly modded),if anyone is interested.Looking for 2.6 or 3.2 ,mv6 or elite.

My 2.6 MV6 auto feels alot faster than those times suggest although I havent timed the sprint up to 60.

Top speed I darent try....on 6 pts already.....but it cruises lovely at 70-90mph on the motorway, with 80 being a real acceleration sweet spot........

My 2.6 seems fast enough to me, my only complaint is it didn't come with a twin exhaust which looks so much better

I am currently looking for a 3.2 back box but not having any luck (but I don't want to pay full price as I'm as tight as a ducks bum) thought I'd take a chance and put that last bit in just in case somebody on OOF has one going spare sorry havn't got enough posts yet

We tested this at York in real terms. I was driving Richard Irv's lovely 2.6 auto MV6 using the gears manually so quicker than sport button. Surprised at how well it pulled but twice Ian_D passed me in his 3.0 auto Elite despite me getting away first.

get a 3.2 in a round aboutish size corner and jab the throttle, the back will respond accordingly.
Do the same in a 2.5, and from what i gather 2.6 is not dissimilar, very little happens by comparison.

2.5  to 2.6 is noticable in a 10bhp sort of way. My dad had both and instantly noticed the difference when getting into the 2.6.

If the right 2.6 came along don't ignore it, just get some 3.2 cams (or lob a 3.2 into it!).

Only if you have decent tread on your  tyres on the back of the 2.6! My tail slides nicely thank you very much - part worn Dunlops or Pirellis or something as fitted as std from factory.

Only if you have decent tread on your  tyres on the back of the 2.6! My tail slides nicely thank you very much - part worn Dunlops or Pirellis or something as fitted as std from factory.
