Before shooting me down, please understand that in it's current state (sat on the drive with a big hole in the engine), this MV6, while a very tidy facelift, is worth next to nothing. So I've got nothing to lose.
Basically, I've got another engine for it - only, it's from an earlier model.
It will fit (I've seen it done) - and work fine, it's just, in an ideal world, not best practice.
Reality is, the car's worth so little, even perfectly running, there is nothing to lose.
On a brighter note -
Its' still a 3.0 V6 - the engine has only covered 34,000 miles until the car it was in was written off at the rear.
To be honest I believe it. The guy I bought it off removed it himself, and knew the car's history. I've no reason to doubt him. It was destined for a kit car, but he never got that far.
It's all extremely clean, but hasn't been "cleaned" if you get me. Genuine plugs, genuine camcover gaskets (I can see the GM stamps). Been kept in a garage for some time but turns over fine on the pulley.
In addition, it comes with all the sensors, Ancils, and such, even the PAS pump etc.
He's even put things like the exhaust downpipe nuts back on the thread, and kept all the loom tidy and intact, it was a VERY tidy removal job.
Here's for the really good part -
It also came with the MANUAL gearbox, which has also only done 34k - R28 box.
If that wasn't enough , he threw in the pedals, and pretty much most of what I need to make it a manual apart fromt he prop!!
The cost was £200 for the lot, and it only cost me a tenner to collect in LPG. By the time I flog the old AR35, and the spares I don't want off the old engine, I will have nearly made back the cost of the new one!
Unlike someone here, who once fitted an earlier engine to a facelift - I will do it properly. The motor will go on the engine stand, and have all new gaskets, especially exhaust manifold ones, and a cambelt kit. Even though it's low miles, it's silly not to do some jobs, while it's on the stand.
The droop plenum will be fitted as per usual.
As I say, not ideal, but it's practically a free engine, and will get my MV6 running, so who cares? 8-)
Shouldn't this be in the front of the car??

The "Proper" gearbox
