Brought a Polish Stainless steel exhaust
« on: 16 August 2009, 19:09:30 »

l needed a new exhaust for my 2.5 estate and decided on the Polish Stainless steel one for £119 plus postage.
It arrived 3 days after ordering it.
lt doesnt have the level of finish that the original had. But it was soundly made.
lt came with all the bits to fit it. Nuts and bolts, rubber supports. clamps and exhaust paste.
lt took 3 and 1/2 hours to fit. The 4 bolts near the cats all sheared and needed drilling out.
lt fitted under the car quite well. The flarings and plates by the cats are quite crude but work well and sealed well. The slide in joints by the rear box needed deburring and seemed a bit short. Making the rear box fit slightly forward. And the tail pipe sits higher, nearer to the plastic bumper. it all fitted together well and sealed tight though.
My only concern is that the support hangers for the mid section are a bit long, leaving the mid section hanging about an inch lower. Easily solved by cutting, over lapping and rewelding them (lf it needs doing).
When it was all fitted, l took the car for a run. lt sounds nice and quiet.

So in short....

Took 3 days to arrive...
Nothing fitted...
All the bolts sheared...
It took 3 hours longer than book time to fit...
Crude fitments...
Nothing lined up...

And that was a bargain?????

Think he meant the existing ones ::) ::)

Probably because he was rolling about on the floor instead on on a ramp, with a car which has actually been used instead of a nice shiny new one ::) ::)

Generally I'd say it would be suitable for someone on a budget :y :y

With all due respect LD, it wouldn't take the bare arsed, baby faced, green behind the ears novice over 3 hours to fit an exhaust system if the parts were even close to manufacturer spec.

Take a look at what you have on a MIG mate....you can't buy the proper shit for £120 complete...let alone fit it.

And please calm down in your aggressive posting style, its not needed.

It's not needed at all but, every post today seems to have been similar and it's getting annoying!

Ignoring the obscenities and aggressive posting... I still stand by my comment that for £119 for a stainless, cat back exhaust system is a good price for someone on a budget :y :y :y

I'm not at all surprised that drilling out old bolts made the job a long one... I've done them on a ramp before and it's taken 2 hours due to access  :o :o Obviously, with oxy-acetylene and a ramp it would have been considerably easier but these aren't normally available to all of us :y :y

That's what took the time fitting my stainless exhaust. I still maintain it was a stupid idea to thread the down pipe rather than the exhaust.  :-?

Sounds to me like this chap could single handedly put Kwik-Fit out of business. Prepping car, drilling out 4 hardened bolts and fitting a full exhaust in 1/2 hour - that is impressive stuff!

Probably end up with the same customer reviews as Kwik-Fit too.

And doing it on his own too, on axel stands  ;D

 ;D ;D

My eternal one took three days to arrive, fitted like a charm, cost me £95 with all bits, and took me 5 hours to fit because two of the bolts snapped and I was working under axle stands.

I'm with Lazydocker - it was a stupid bloody idea to thread the downpipes instead of the exhaust.

It works, i'm happy, and I can add to my little chunk of experience on working on my car.  :y
