GM original parts

Just a random thought for anyone who thinks buying none GM parts is saving money. I just got back from my local dealer, where I got genuine oil, filter and a new sump plug for less than I could get the oil alone from anywhere else.

To my mind, that's a bargain in anybody's language :)

Oil is one of there better priced items  :y

4 x 5litres for £35 ish  (on trade club)

gotta be happy with that

wish all their parts were as cheap.

I think most things with them are good prices, i was expecting to pay big bucks for a replacement coil pack, but was pleasently surprised at the £80 odd or how ever much it was.

yes, somethings are silly expensive though...

v6 HT leads spring to mind
some suspension components

with trade, most things seem reasonable.

on the other hand, these from memory ish, at retail.....
wishbones 240 for 1
Springs over 200 for 1
Self level shock 300 a pair
Leads as said 90 per bank(3)
.....are still bloody expensive even a with trade card.

Sl shocks we are stuck with as nobody else makes them afaik(150 pair on tc). The others can be found cheaper elsewhere of course.

( But when it comes to springs can we be sure of matching the vx ride precisely? Esp when it comes to non plod mv6 ? )

Agree though, plugs and oil cant be beat on tc.....can they?

Springs use KYB

Self Levelling shocks were £45 a side on TC when I last bought some.

Wishbones are the real problem, had two cars now that i've fitted pattern ones onto and not impressed with either compared to OEM so now going down the route of having new bushes fitted to old arms (also replaced the ball joints).

Handbrake shoes use Ferrodo from Halfords NB. they don't know which ones at the desk but use the Ascona labelled ones - FSB227, or even better get them from the OOF shop when in stock!

Just been to my local dealer and got 5 litres of GM oil and filter for £20, and without trade card. Local dealers are doing 5 litres of GM oil for £14.99 at the moment. Works out at around £10.50 with trade card. Bargain!! :y

Best get yourself a TC card then :y

Oh, no, wait, your dealer (if its the one near Leagrave) is Pendragon group, and there are an utter arse to get your own TC card from.  That said, they are one of the better Pendragon ones....  ....parts dept there are almost helpful

Didn`t use that one Jaime. I use Motorbodies in Bilton Way. Always helpful there even if they do lack a bit of knowlege at times. :y

Think the one you talk of is Evans Halshaw on the roundabout opposite PC World.
