Took delivery today
« on: 15 June 2007, 23:28:11 »

Well, today I collected my 2002 2.6CD (with only 18k on the clock :y).

A beautiful drive, with everything working as it should, although the first 10 minutes were a bit fraught as it was showing only 19 miles left on the range. Managed to find a petrol station near Chiswick and settled back to enjoy the rest of the drive home.

OK, so this car is a finance company repossession. It was first registered in 2002, then purchased by someone in January 2003. It seems they didn't keep up payments and the finance company had some problems in reclaiming it. They they finally tracked it down, but not in any obvious place, it seems. I think it has been stored somewhere in the countryside judging by the state of the engine bay. Needless to say, it comes without any owners manual or service manual and just one remote key which was cut last week, plus a manual spare. Got the MoT certificate and it shows it was tested 10 days ago.

Only problems are cobwebs throughout the engine bay and plastic wheel nut covers that seem to have lost their colour (should they be black or grey?).

I'll need to do a cambelt and oil change asap but other than that, it all looks good. Climate control works a treat, but what's all this Auto, ECO, LO stuff? :o Must get a handbook from somewhere!

SWMBO loves it, as the interior is in showroom condition with that genuine leather smell.  :y

Oh, and the previous owner left a Rod Stewart CD in the CDR 2005 (which seems quite a good setup).  ::)

Excellent news! Sounds like a nice Omega you've got there!

A link was posted on here to download pdfs of the manual from Vauxhall somewhere. A quick search would bring it up I'm sure.

Climate is the only thing I don't love about mine. I'd be happier with manual heater controls, TBH, but not an option on the facelift.

Pressing AUTO and selecting a temperature means it will control fan speed, air distribution, heating, air con, etc. to maintain the selected temperature in the cabin. Selecting ECO disables air con completely so it won't cool the air.

You can override the fan speed and air distribution using the other buttons and by pressing one of the temperature controls you can go from one temperature for the whole car to separate left and right settings and vice versa.

Mmm, that sounds good, TD.  :y

Did think about swapping the rear blind from the old Meega (how/when will I get rid of it?), but the parcel shelf seems to be different shade of grey. :( Would look a bit naff if I did a straight swap. Probably don't need it, anyway.

Cold....and if it is working well.......bloody cold  :o

I stick mine on either 20 or 22, keeps the cabin nice and cool in the summer and warm in the winter, no need to mess with the controls at all

Don't forget a full brake fluid flush too (including squeezing the calipers!) as 4 yr old brake fluid will be past its most effective!  :o

I could give you a list of what should be done (spent too much time round Mark, maintenance lists... ::))
