Ok so we've had some heavy rain the past couple of days but where I live there has been no flodding at all. I get's in my car this morning and there's a big pool of water collected in my rear passenger side footwell. Strangely enough I've only ever owned 2 vauxhalls in my life and I had this same exact same problem in my old cavelier estate. I never managed to sus where it was coming from. Any ideas guy's???

P.s. Ive done very little driving in it the past couple of days so maybe its not coming from road spray???

Open bonnet, open hatch by windscreen scuttle for pollen filter, look inside and say 'wow, its full of water'. Then turn steering to the left, reach behind passengers side frtont wheel for rubber outlet and open the gap. then say' wow, I got soaked!'.

Scuttle drain blocked.

The sunroof water drain tubes don't run down the centre door pillar do they?

If so could that be blocked near the bottom allowing the water to flood to that area?? :-?

First thought, is window shut correctly. Is door rubber secure? Is there glass in the door? OK, so now I am being silly, but you never know. I saw a car sold at auction year ago with a missing sunroof. The buyer didn't notice, but he did when he collected it from the pound. Very heavy rain!

It is there rear footwell thats flooded but there is a very long thin damp patch of carpet in the front passenger footwell running along the sill which makes me think its running from the front area....
I'll test the pollen filter thingy and see how I go from there..

do you park your car on an incline, the water maybe running down to that area..... just a thought

Right, Ive checked the area where the pollen filter is and theres no water there. Ive pulled back carpet in front and sponged out about 1-2 litres from under the cushioned matting. I would say it's coming from the spot that Ronaldmcburger mentioned but as I said there was no trace of water. Ive hoover out all the dead leaves and crap that may have blocking the drain plug.
It rained last night and I used the car(with the carpet back to help dry out) and I can see NO signs of water coming in. So I'm really foxed on this. Suppose the only answer would be to have my missus sit in the car whilst I bladder it from all angles with the house pipe eh?

You have to consider the fact that if you get heavy rain and the scuttle drain is partly blocked then it would still over flow yet any remaining water would drain away by the time you come to check it out.

So I suspect it was the scuttle drain and the leaf and gunge removal (try flushing it through with a hose pipe to) will stop it happening again.

For info, on the cav, the bit that got blocked was the small rubber elephants trunk that use to stick out at the rear of the engine bay....

That's where mine was/is pi$$ed wet through. I've yet to get the chance to see if it's got wet again after our very recent inclement weather!
