Uhm, interesting.
Mine's been de-cated & re-mapped, i noticed quite a difference on power & mpg :)
If the remap was right, you'll have a noticable power (and torque) boost, and it will give better MPG if you are paying attention to the right foot.

just done stratford on avon and back on one tank
70mph @42 mpg = 650 distance  :)
42mpg (even at 70mph) ain't that impressive when compared to a surrender monkey of the same age...and it's even less impressive when compared to new cars.
whats a surrender monkey
and new cars are common rail
and i run fully  loaded so i think thata an ok mpg

The cost was £100.00 which was nearly two years ago (mate of a mate ;))
The power delivery is smooth, but quite noticeable.
The mpg increased by a small amount. I drove the M1 at a set speed which i'd driven many times before at the same speed & found an increase of two miles mpg.
The most noticeable difference was when i removed the cat & the center muffler, she's now has alot more feedom to breath. At first start up from cold she's a little more lumpy than before the removal (on tick over), but when running at speed or warmed through there's no difference, she free revs easier.
I wanted to move & replace the intercooler from behind the condenser (what where VX thinking :-/) & place it down near the front for cooler air flow, but that will be down to the new owner's choice ;)

I did around 50 miles today in a round trip, roughly half M1 & half A/B roads. I did 60mph on the motorway & 50mph on the other roads. She returned 52mpg average. Don't think i can complain on that :)
Would've returned more, but i was in standing traffic at J28 for ten mins >:( & i wound her up twice to clear out the cob webs :y :y

Dunno about Pete, but we had a 2 litre Zetec Mondy (130 BHP standard) that when re-mapped on it's own wouldn't make any more than 140 BHP no matter what map was used.

As soon as the Cat was pulled, it went straight to 170 BHP on the mildest map.
Needless to say, the Cat was resigned to the bin at that point.
