another eBay idiot thread!
« on: 21 June 2007, 10:15:43 »

Some of you may know i put my boat on eBay... well it sold for £570  :D :)

But the idiot who won the auction, does not have the means to collect it. I had an e-mail from him 2 days after the auction ended saying he has a BMW 3 series and will it go on roof rails  >:( >:(

He asked me to source a company to transport it for him too, if it would not fit on his car.  >:( >:(

Asked him to call me, and I am going tell him I will re-list it.

Bloody eBay and its time wasting idiots, i need that money!  >:( >:( >:(

Clearly knows what he's doing then!

If he's willing to pay for it, I'd leave him to sort out transport as and when. If he won't pay, re-list it or offer it to the next highest bidder.

Thinking about it I might try and get him to pay via PayPal, so I have the money, and he can collect whenever

I'd do a second chance offer to the next highest bidder - quickly, before he buys something else.  Presumably that will only be 10-20 quid less?

just got the winning bidder to ring me, he said his roof racks will take 80kgs max, i don't think the boat is more than that. So I am going to let him collect on Sunday and try and put it on roof rails.

Apparently he bought it for his 9 year old son, the trouble is the boat has the full rig, and I cannot control it, you need to be 12 stone minimum to control this boat!  ::)

Ah well, his problem!

Tunnie,

I have had a Laser on roof rails on a Cavalier.  The main problem was that it was wider than the roof rails, so I needed to rig up an extension with some planks.    Less than ideal, but at least its him that's driving it.

Cheers

Not strictly true, the laser is designed for the lighter person, hence why i bought a Phantom instead of a laser, they have also just made a new bigger 8sqm rig for the laser for the 'heavier' person.
Also a 4.7 rig can be bought for pennies if you know where to look

Light weight isn't an issue its how well you trim the sail to 'spill the wind' via the kicker and out haul and how far you can get your arse over the side  ;D.

Lasers are also designed to be carried on a roof rack so they will have no issues, but if he has a tow bar point him my way as i do have a road trailer that i could sell him  ;)
