i used an old bottle of screenwash the other week, been in there for a good few years i think, i mixed it 1:2 with water for screenwash.

In the recent cold snap though, my jets turned to a dribble. I stripped the scuttle and jets down this morning, and put them in hot water, and cleaned them out. Re-assembled and they blasted water out for all of 1 second, then turned to a dribble 

So i decided to check the gauze filter, turns out some monkey cut that out  No wonder it was sucking up crap, anywho, i emptied the washer bottle and decided to fill it with warm clean water.

Turned the jets on for 15-20 seconds or so, until it ran clear (old stuff was greenish) soon as the clear water came through it was gushing out at full speed from all 4 jets. 

Wanted to get some GM stuff, but they are out of stock, so guess its halfords again, but fresh neat stuff!

ive been through lots of makes, and am currently using the GM

costs a bit more, but cleans better imho


Guess its like comparing fairy liquid to supermarkets own etc.

never had any old enough to gunk up like that though.

Good news , Not the weather to have them not working. My local seller has ran out too so using some Tesco own brand which seems to work well so far.

I don't know how long the screenwash had been in my car when I bought it, but every time I used them, my car stank of stagnant water. Took me a while to make the connection...

I had the same problem... I now use a strong concentration of screenwash all year round, although at the moment it's virtually neat But it works whatever the weather

Take it you have sorted your problem with the screenwashers then,you dident tell us that bit,your too tight to buy a bottle of screenwash.

it was a brand spankers bottle of 5L pure, seemed a waste to throw it away. Tried to get some more neat stuff, but halfrauds had sold out. Hate to buy pre-mixed but thats all they had 

So stuck some fresh mixed anti-freeze in, and its working well now. Need to wait until the GM is back in stock again

D'oh bugger, meant mixed screenwash in, did same thing at Halfrauds 

I found blasting de-icer at the jets helped a lot, going to work yesterday it was -7, stoped after 5 miles, blasted the jets with de-icer, worked for a bit, then froze again.

Did most of the journey without washers, could barley see out of the windscreen when i got to work

Know what you mean about waste though,im exactly the same,and probably would have used it aswell.At home im forever sticking things in the recycle bin,so im doing my bit for the planet.
