TV Footage showing the scene where that poor police officers car was blown up in NI had a Police  Omega estate in the background.

Could it be that the "chaffeurs" driving them may well be ex-traffic coppers who have experience of driving Omegas and are familiar with them.........???

dont know about being ex-cops but there all big men, suited up and armed. also you dont want to have them behind you on the motor-way as they just flash and/or sound the siren to get you out of the way. what speed limit!

Same person that makes the decision to buy them for the Police probably, also I would expect at that level that the drivers would be allowed to express a preference of vehicle and I heard the Omega was much loved by the Traffic cops so maybe they just liked them and asked for them to be used..........??

Suitable vehicles go on whats called the Home Office Approved List after testing which includes brakes, suspension, electrical load etc etc not just the 0-60 time.  Once approved, its upto the individual force what they buy, what its to be used for and how deep their wallet is, nothing much more...
