LPG Stopped Working Today
« on: 24 January 2010, 16:48:03 »

As per title really... Started and drove to work this morning, all OK... On way had to stop at the petrol station for some milk... Came out and it won't do anything... Wont even light up the control switch :( :(

Checked all fuses and connections and managed to get the control light to light up, but with the ignition off ::)

I've got a bad feeling that the ECU is goosed, although it's still under warranty :y :y

Quick call to Teilo tomorrow methinks ;) ;)

[edit]Should add... Can't get the laptop to connect either :( :([/edit]

Oh dear!

Not a shorted connector to the control panel perhaps?

There's a pinout of the ECU connector here. Might help to see if the 2 power supplies are making it to the ECU?

http://www.ac.com.pl/technical-materials/instructions-and-manuals,409/

Failing that, I agree. Could be duff ECU.  :-/

Not the end of the world... Runs perfectly on petrol and I've got nearly a full tank (although it was going to be a bonus for the next owner ::))

I'll speak to Teilo tomorrow and he'll probably resolve it within about 30 seconds ::) ::) At least it's under warranty :y :y

As long as I can get hold of him (and I have a few methods ::)) I expect to have the problem either resolved or a replacement part on its way by the end of the day :y :y

I just hope he's not out of the country again

Spoke to him mid-morning and he said he'd briefly glanced at my email... He's rushing about getting some orders sorted before he jets off to Poland again on Friday.

He was surprised and puzzled... Agrees with my conclusion, having had another poke about, that it sounds like it's a fried ECU :( :( Said we'll speak before the end of the day but he'll probably send out a replacement to try before I have to start pulling the car apart to trace the hidden wiring :y :y

Incidentally it's something he's not encountered before but doesn't think there's been any water ingress into the ECU, even where it's mounted, because one of the demonstrations they do with the kit is have it running with the ECU submerged :o :o

Also chatted about the supplier up North claiming to be a Stag importer but wont report it in public :-X :-X

I agree the ECU housing is sealed well and the connector looks to be more than up to the job. At the outside it's possible that there's been a bit of salt ingress into the connector perhaps with recent weather? I'd be surprised, though.

Good that he's providing decent support. :y

Must confess... With all the troubles people have been having getting hold of him I was starting to think I'd be looking for another supplier when I do the next conversion but his support is second to none :y :y Restored my faith :y :y

Spoken to Teilo again today.

He's sent a replacement ECU out for me to swap in and see if it cures it... We're still no convinced either way but it's quicker and easier than tracing the wiring :y :y

That said, we can only see it being one of the 3 power connections to the ECU or, as Kevin has suggested, a short to the control panel. Still... Time will tell  :-/ :-/

Could perhaps be a wiring fault elsewhere i.e. 5v supply to the sensors. If a short is dragging this down it might stop the CPU from starting up. Depends if the external 5v supply is separated, I guess.

He's confident that it could only be one of the 3 points mentioned above... Had a brief (1 minute) moment of LPG switch lit up and working on Monday night, but nothing at all since :( :(

Could still be a wiring fault but does look like the ECU could be the culprit! Should know by this time tomorrow :y :y
