Mondeo diagnostic socket location
« on: 23 January 2010, 19:49:26 »

My son has replaced his old 1998 Vectra with a 2004 Mk3 Mondeo Zetec (I know, but it's his choice!).  I was giving the once over today and I cannot find the 16 pin diagnostic socket, which I would have thought should be easily reached from the drivers seat.  Does anyone know where it is located on the Mondeo?

It should be under the steering wheel in roughly the same place as the omega.
From memory there is a small cover(about 2-3 inches square) its behind that.
Hope im not too far off.

It's in the petrol filler tube but you can only find it with a lit match ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

Have to defend Henry, my son's Tdci on a 51 plate is a superb drive, and has only given minor probs, admittedly more than my Td though. ::)

I finally managed to have a look at my son's Mondeo this afternoon and could find no sign of a diagnostic socket under the steering wheel, or any where else for that matter.
There is no sign of a "trapdoor" in the trim above the brake pedal.  I spent several minutes in the footwell with a torch peering up around the area above the foot pedals and there is nothing apart from all the usual connections for the cruise control etc.
I had a horrible suspicion that a Ford would be awkward bit this is just silly.  Even my daughters Golf has a socket that can be accessed from the drivers seat (albeit under a little cover above the ashtray).
Sorry to be a pain but it would be nice to know where it is just in case.

It is a Wednesdeo - the first one was a Mondeo, later replaced by the Tuesdeo.

Please get the name correct :y
