If it was wheel bearings I wouldn't take the p!$$... That's not a silly thing which is easy to miss ;) ;)

No 'silly' failures this year. All genuine failures  :'(

One of them was numberplate bulb, which was working Thursday night when I went around changing indicators. Law of sod was against me.

Nope. MDTM nipped up one bearing, and replaced the other. Still a bit of play in them, but not enough to fail.
